Trainer's Additional Information
Coloured quarter horses is a family business. We started training horses in 2003 using natural horsemanship methods. Ray Hunt, Larry Trocha, Sandy Collier, and other trainers have been our inspiration. A young wild horse brought to us that has never been touched, would be taught how to trust and respect in a matter of hours. In just days that same horse would be calm under a saddle and rider, lightly responding to leg pressure and bit. After 30 days of riding we expect horses to calmly and comfortably: walk, trot, lope circles, pick up shoulders, stop, back up, side pass, turn both ways, roll back, etc. I can't put a limit on the things a horse can do in a month, I also can't over promise, its mostly up to the horse how far they will come in a month. There are many factors that can affect the horses training...maturity, pedigree, prior handling, etc. We believe that training shouldn't be boring, difficult, or scary for the horse, so we often trail ride young hors
es to keep them interested and ready to try new things. Trail riding is a great way to get the horse relaxed, calm, picking up their gates smoother, as well as ensuring that horses don't become arena sour.
